Café Nucleus Rochester

I was visiting from Sweden and walked past here and had to go in. The outside is grand and this is what attracted me inside.

The breakfast was wonderful you can help quality was of the highest here. A nice coffee to enjoy with all.

A great way to experience an English breakfast

What an all round great experience!
An authentically restored building, exceptional customer service and a wide ranging food and drinks menu. A great place to eat for a treat or have coffee and cake or a snack.

Late lunch with my wife. Excellent food and service; lovely atmosphere in the Courtyard - nice and relaxing. I highly recommend it. And an absolutely first rate Rest room, like something from a Victorian gentleman's Club.

We attended the restaurant as a group of four for a mid-week brunch. I honestly can’t remember a time where I had a more enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly, personable and extremely attentive. The English breakfast was top notch. Perfect eggs, quality sausages and artisan bread. I can’t wait to return and sample some of the other dishes on the menu.

Good quality Good choice on the menu, not cheap but very good quality ingredients used. Downstairs has too many tables crammed in but we were a larger group so were upstairs which is much better. Staff are always good.

Superb Restaurant/Cafe This place is absolutely lovely, every time i come in the staff are so friendly and accommodating and make you feel at home. Lily and Maria are fantastic and have been the people who have served me majority of the time, they are always so helpful and never without a smile! Music is nice, atmosphere is great and food and drinks are delicious!

Nice but pricey Very expensive (and we’re used to London prices), staff were nice. Atmosphere ok. Sat under the wooden gazebo but the curtains kept being blown around us (they need chain threading through the bottom to hold them down). Sugar pot had old wrappings inside. Coffee latte was very small for the price. £5.50 for a tiny pot of chips was a lot.

Ivan & Anna genuinely cared I need to take back my bad review (staffs attitude) way before, as ANNA & IVAN's caring attitude in this visit changed everything that made Cafe Nucleus stands to its prestigious BRUNCH name through kind & caring care customer services which is one of the focal points that most of the customers / service users tends to come back again and again. THE BEST PLACE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE !! Phenomenal PHENOMENAL!!! I recently visited Cafe Nucleus and was thoroughly impressed by the friendly and attentive staff. The food exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and value, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for up market place to have food or drinks. Phenomenal deco and amazing atmosphere!! Thank you soo much guys , I will be back again and again x ps.. This waffle with maple syrup and fruit was exceptional ??

Sunday Lunch Very nice restaurant and very efficient and pleasant staff! Gluten and,Dairy Free options offered which was good, my only reason for a "4" was that Cauliflower cheese was declined (dairy) but would have appreciated some green vegetables, our fault for not asking! The desert was gluten and dairy free and was superb. Would reccomend this restaurant

Lovely place - you will not be disappointed. I chose this lovely restaurant based on the varied choices on the menu which is extensive. There is also a very wide range of wines on offer. The food was delicious. The portions are generous. The staff were very efficient and friendly. It is a charming gem which I wholly recommend.

Fantastic place - a moan about opening times! Have to start by saying this is a terrific place. The loveliest staff, really tasty food with local produce and the most beautiful building, tastefully done. In the spirit of this I’ve given a 5 star review, because I know from many visits that’s the service and experience you get. BUT I was very frustrated today to check the closing time as 5pm, walk 25 minutes to get a cup of tea and a sandwich, only to be met by a member of staff at the door just before 4pm saying “sorry we’ve decided to close for food early”. Really frustrating as I’d walked down specially. I understand small businesses can find it tough in the early part of the year. But they should really use social media to advertise if they are not going to be open for loyal customers when they advertise they are. I will be back because I Love it here. I will continue to tell friends how ace it is. I will continue to champion places like this that make Rochester High Street so great. But on this occasion it’s a rare ‘could do better’! Here’s to next time

Afternoon tea with a friend Amazing staff especially Riley for his rundown of the menu his amazing smile and friendliness, the rooms are amazing clean artistic and cosy, layout was perfect and attention to detail, food exceptional

A little on the expensive side but definately worth it. Visited with my Brother today & we had a great relaxing brunch. The interior is classy & beautiful. The sausages in the full English breakfast were superb as were the rest of our meals. I also have to compliment the staff who were excellent.

Beautiful setting, but not as good as it could have been Stunning building, really gorgeous. The food was good, but the staff were odd - trying to be really high-end and consequently coming across as not very friendly at times. The Brunch was excellent, but the apple crumble was far too sweet and they only serve it with custard or ice-cream - when I asked for cream was told they don't do cream. Who doesn't do cream??

Wonderful evening of fine dining with family Superb fine dining . Food was so tasty, cooked perfectly and wonderfully presented. Staff were great too, cheerful and so helpful. All in all a wonderful evening. Will definitely visit again. Will also visit for breakfast as son highly recommend that too

Great breakfast in a lovely building Had a lovely breakfast here in a Saturday morning. I wouldn’t have known the café was there had it not already been recommended. Breakfast was presented well and the was no loud music to spoil the atmosphere; we could all enjoy a conversation. Service was a little slow; however, it looked as though the waitress was on her on. She was pleasant and professional.

Average brunch in interesting venue The food was average, but by no means bad. Perhaps I had my expectations set too high given Cafe Nucleus is nearly always fully booked and has a strict 2 hour sitting policy! Understandably so, because the venue which used to be part of the Guildhall is certainly interesting. Although the food was nothing special, I’ve rated 4/5 given what a nice setting it is: the atmosphere is really pleasant, plus it’s exceptionally clean. There was a good drink selection, which I’d like to have tried more of but didn’t have time due to the 2 hour rule (which is more of an observation than feedback: I understand the space is small but in demand.) Staff were very friendly and attentive and were gentle in their reminder that it was time to leave, we didn’t feel rushed.
